Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Oklahoma City is fast becoming one of America’s great major cities. World-class museums, major league sports, diverse neighborhoods and a revitalized downtown make the city a great place to work, live and play. Well-known publications such as Money and The New York Times have taken notice of Oklahoma City’s rising star, and have showered the city with accolades in numerous articles. This up and coming southwestern city is home to 560,000 residents, and is now the 30th largest city in the United States.
Downtown Oklahoma City has been reinvented over the past decade, and the area alone hosts many excellent attractions. Spend a day downtown and surround yourself in the beauty of the Myriad Botanical Gardens, which features thousands of tropical plants and flowers. Take in an exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which hosts hundreds of fine works of art, as well as the largest collection of glass artwork by the famed artist Dale Chihuly. Enjoy a play or concert at the Civic Center, or catch the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder in action nearby at the Ford Center. Walk over to Bricktown, just steps from the Ford Center, and enjoy the many restaurants, nightclubs, shops and entertainment -- or just take a leisurely stroll along the beautiful, mile-long Bricktown Canal.
Oklahoma City’s treasures aren’t just limited to downtown. The internationally famous National Cowboy & Western Heritage museum is located in scenic northeast Oklahoma City. Just a few blocks away, you’ll also find Science Museum Oklahoma, Remington Park Racetrack & Casino, the Oklahoma City Zoo, and Oklahoma Firefighters Museum. Not far from here, in northwest Oklahoma City, you’ll discover great shopping at Penn Square and Quail Springs Malls, or drive along nearby Western Avenue, and find funky boutique shops, gourmet restaurants, art galleries and more.
Of course, Oklahoma City is also rich in outdoor recreational amenities. Beautiful Lake Hefner, on the northwest side, is the perfect place to spend a sunny day, and has plenty of opportunities for bicycling, picnicking, sailing and more. The lake even has its own enclosed area for dogs! Not far from the lake lies the Martin Park Nature Refuge, a great place to hike, explore and enjoy the great outdoors. The Oklahoma River, which flows through the city south of downtown, also features plenty of opportunities for fun. You can even enjoy a dinner cruise down the river onboard the new Oklahoma River Cruisers.
Housing in Oklahoma City is as diverse as the city itself. In Oklahoma City, you’ll find everything from downtown lofts to historic neighborhoods; modern homes on cul-de-sacs to gated golf course communities, and everything else in between. In fact, Oklahoma City has neighborhoods that fit any taste, lifestyle and best of all, any budget.
